Tip: Make a Plan for Cold-Weather Care, Food and Exercise Limit the number of baths, which can dry out your pets skin. Also, use a humidifier in your home to help keep the air moist. Assess how much food your pet should eat in the winter. The less active your pet, the fewer calories it requires, while animals that spend more time outdoors might need more calories to stay warm.
