Childrens Crafts

Made Simple & Fun!!

"Fun Ice Cream Cake"

There are many childrens crafts that can add a little bit of fun to your child's birthday. You don't have to have a birthday cake to sing "Happy Birthday", make a wish or blow out candles!

TIP: Try putting candles in donuts, hot dogs, watermelon or pizza slices. Make homemade ice cream and serve it with lit sparklers instead of tradition birthday candles.

Ingredients You Need:

15 Chocolate cream-filled sandwich cookies

3 tablespoons butter or margarine

2 candy bars of your choice (2 ounces each)

1 half-gallon any flavor ice cream

1-12 ounce container whipped topping

Colored sprinkles or small candy decorations

Directions:

1. On a cutting board, finely chop cookies, 2-3 at a time using a food chopper. Place butter in a covered microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high 30 seconds or until melted. Mix in cookie crumbs with spoon. Press crumb mixture onto the bottom of a springform pan and freeze for 15 minutes

2. Cut each candy bar into 4 pieces; chop using a food chopper

3. Using kitchen shears, cut ice cream container apart to expose block of ice cream. Cut the ice cream block into 1-inch thick slices. Arrange ice cream slices over cookie crust, cutting pieces to fit. Spread into a smooth layer. Sprinkle with chopped candy bar. Top with remaining ice cream prepared the same way as the first layer. Smooth the top and cover with foil and freeze 3 hours or overnight

4. Fill a decorator's tube with the whipped topping (can also use a sandwich bag with a small cut in one of the corners) and set aside. Release collar from springform pan. Decorate the top and sides of the cake with the whipped topping. Top with sprinkles. Freeze 1 hour or over night. Once whipped topping is frozen, you can lightly cover the cake with plastic wrap

TIP:To make candy bar pieces easier to chop, wrap them in plastic wrap and freeze them for 10 minutes.
