Christmas Paper Crafts
"Festive Paper Chain"
Christmas paper crafts that are fun and get the whole family involved. A traditional but timeless craft is the famous paper chain. It can be simple or fancied up to make your home sparkle with holiday cheer.
Supplies You Need:
Scissors
Construction Paper (red and green or multi-colored)
Pencil
Ruler
Glue stick or clear tape
Glitter, foil, sequins or markers
Directions:
1. Use a pencil and ruler to measure and mark the strips for the chains (each should measure about one inch wide and four inches long)
2. Cut out the strips of paper
3. Roll the first strip of paper into a circle and glue or tape the ends together
4. Put the next strip through the loop to form a new link, and glue or tape together. Continue until your chain is long enough (you can do a countdown for Christmas Day or make a garland for the tree)
5. Make it shine by gluing glitter, sequins, or foil shapes like stars to the outside of the links (you can also have kids color the strips of paper before they are rolled with their own original designs)
Tip: You can add some competitive spirit to the mix and see who can make the longest chain the fastest! While making Christmas paper crafts, enjoy a homemade gingersnap and some hot chocolate. Simple recipe below.
"Holiday Gingersnaps"

2-1/3 cups all-purpose flour 1-1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 tsp. ground ginger 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking soda 3/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature) 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/3 cup molasses
Cinnamon sugar: 1/2 cup sugar mixed with 1-1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets
2. Combine flour, spices, salt, and baking soda in a bowl. In a large bowl, beat butter with sugar and egg at medium speed for 2 minutes, until fluffy. Add molasses; beat 1 minute. Slowly add flour mixture; beat to combine
3. Using a rounded teaspoon for each cookie, roll dough into balls, then roll each in cinnamon sugar and place on baking sheets
4. Bake 10 minutes, or until cookies are golden and crisp. Cool 1 minute, then transfer to wire racks to finish cooling
Tip: Serve cookies with some Hot Chocolate with a Twist. Serve up some holiday cheer this season with warm, festive drinks. Spice it up and try a variation on traditional hot chocolate by adding one of these tasty ingredients: Cinnamon or cinnamon-flavored candies * Marshmallows * Graham cracker * Candy canes * Chili pepper powder * Whipped cream
