Craft Gift Ideas

"Valentine Gift Tags"

Craft gift ideas are a wonderful way to show love to family members or a favorite friend. Attach these pretty tags to a gift or use as decoration on a Valentine's Day card.

Supplies You Need:

Unwrapped crayons

Pencil sharpener or grater

Waxed paper

Craft or parchment paper

Iron

Scissors

Pen or marker

X-Acto knife

Hole punch

String or ribbon

Directions:

1. Shred crayons one at a time using the pencil sharpener or grater onto a piece of wax paper. Spread the shavings around on the waxed paper, mixing the colors, then place another piece of waxed paper over the top. Place a piece of craft or parchment piece of paper over that.

2. With the help of a grown-up, set the iron on low heat and carefully iron the waxed paper "sandwich," melting all of the crayon shavings. Set aside to cool and harden. Repeat this procedure with as many crayons as you like.

3. Discard the craft or parchment paper. Using the scissors, cut the waxed-paper-and crayon "sandwiches" into heart or gift tag shapes. (You can trace the shapes onto the "sandwiches" using cookie cutters in heart shapes.) Sketch letters onto the heart shapes (Using first letter of recipient's name or you can spell "love.") Again with the help of an adult, cut out the letters with the X-Acto knife.

4. Punch a hole in each tag or heart, then loop the string or yarn through the hole and tie in a knot. Now attach this homemade gift tag to your gift to add a personal touch!!

5. Clean the iron by turning it up to high and ironing over a piece of clean brown or white paper. Any wax deposits will melt off the iron onto the paper (have grown-ups do this.)
