Some houses try to hide the fact
that children shelter there.
Ours boasts of it quite openly...
the signs are everywhere.
For smears are on the windows,
little smudges on the doors...
I should apologize, I guess, for toys
stewn on the floor.
But I sat down with the children, and,
we played and laughed and read...
And if the doorbell doesn't shine,
their eyes will shine instead.
For when at times I'm forced
to choose the one job
or the other, I want
to be a homemaker,
but first I'll be
a Mother.

Here are some additional heartwarming ideas for including your children in your Mother's Day celebration:
Make a breakfast picnic. Kids will love helping set up either outside or on the living room floor. Then clean-up together while Mom relaxes.
Hide notes. Invite your child to write love-notes and stash them in places Mom will stumble upon them by chance, like the cabinet, closet, refrigerator, and more. Kids know the best spots.
Make a movie. Write a silly script together about why you love Mom so much. Get imaginative with costumes and scenery. Then watch it together with a big bowl of popcorn.
Create a treasure map. Encourage your child to make a homemade gift such as a painting or a salt-dough jewelry dish. Then have him draw a detailed map of your house or the backyard that Mom can follow to find it. X marks the spot!
