"Craft Glitter"

Gift Wrapping

When it comes to wrapping a child's gift, a little imagination goes a long way. Craft glitter is a fun way to sparkle up a gift or a homemade invitation.

Instead of using a box and wrapping paper, place the gift in a decorative cookie tin or lunch box that can be used later for crayons, blocks, or small toys. If the gift is small, place it inside a sand pail and tie the shovel to the handle of the pail and some colorful ribbon. If your child is bringing a gift to a friend's party, have them decorate a plain paper bag with stickers, crayons, or fingerpaints. Click here for a fingerpaint recipe

Fun wrapping paper ideas are: newpaper, fabric remnants, plastic bags tied with ribbons, newpaper comic strips, foil, butcher paper or lunch bags.

Fun package topper ideas are: balloons, hair ribbons, lollipops, colorful shoelaces, costume jewelry, whistles, cute pencils or kids sunglasses.

Cute Cards & Invitations

Supplies You Need:

Construction paper and colorful wrapping paper

Craft glitter

Colored pencils

Scissors

String or colored yarn

Glue Stick

Directions:

1. Fold a piece of construction paper in half and draw or trace a figure on one side so that the end of one arm meets the fold

2. Cut out the figure and unfold it so that you have two figures joined at the hand

3. Trace the figure on colored paper or wrapping paper to make clothing shapes, then cut them out and glue them on (or spread glue on the figure then sprinkle with the sparkles and then shake off excess)

4. Cut out and decorate a greeting or invitation sign ("Happy Birthday," or "Your Invited")

5. Using a pencil, poke a hole in each top corner of the sign and in each of the figures' free hands and attach with string or yarn

TIP: Cut your figure from a blank card instead of construction paper to make sure it fits easily in an envelope.

TIP: You can make a festive stamp by scanning one of your child's drawings or have her create one with a computer program. Follow instructions at stamps.com to make a custom stamps.
