"Float a Fish with Craft Magnets"
Make your own gravity-defying goldfish swimming in a jar. With craft magnets hidden under the lid, this goldfish shimmies and floats like a real fish.
Supplies You Need:
Jam-jar with lid (any size) Yellow piece of construction paper Paper clip Thread Four strong button magnets (you can get these at any arts and crafts store) Blue beads or small colored pebbles Tape
Directions:
1. Cut a fish-shape from the piece of construction paper (about 2-3") and put eyes and a mouth on it with marker
2. Put the paper clip over the body of the fish
3. Measure the jar's height, cut a piece of thread to match this measurement, and tie it to the paper clip
4. Tape the other end of the thread to the bottom of the inside of the jar
5. Hold the jar upside down; the top of the fish should hang about an inch from the opening
6. Stack four strong button magnets onto the underside of the lid, then screw the lid in place
7. Invert the jar again so that the clip is caught in the magnetic field, then turn the jar upright
8. Pour the beads or pebbles in the bottom of the jar
