Craft Projects for Easter
Awesome Carrot Bags
Think of these fun carrot bags as Easter stockings. Craft projects for Easter are simple and fun! Fill these awesome bags with lots of treats and enjoy. Allow some time for this project because it involves cutting and sewing.
Supplies You Need:
Chalk for marking
1-1/2 yards orange felt
Scissors
Straight pins and needle
Orange and green embroidery floss
Green felt
Ribbon
Directions:
1. Get a carrot template (at any craft store or online, measuring about 8 inches in width and about 19 inches in length)
2. Place the template on the orange felt and use the chalk to trace the orange part of the carrot. Cut out two carrot shapes and put one aside for the back. For the front of the carrot: Cut horizontally on the line indicated on the template, about one-third of the way down from the top, so that you end up with 2 pieces.
3. Pin the two front pieces on top of the single back piece. Using the needle and orange floss, stitch all around the outside edges of the carrot. Leave open the front panel where it's been cut to create a deep pocket for treats!
4. For decoration, use the needle and orange embroidery floss to stitch horizontal lines across the two front pieces of the carrot.
5. Use the chalk to trace the carrot top portion of the template on the green felt. Cut out 2 carrot tops: Pin 1 to the top of each side of the carrot. Stitch around the edges of the carrot top with the needle and green embroidery floss. Also stitch through the 4 layers of fabric at the base of the carrot top.
6. Cut the ribbon in half and sew the ends of the ribbon to the back of the carrot. Tie carrot to chair before filling the pocket with wrapped candies and toys.
Tip: At Eastertime, decorating can be as simple as placing stuffed bunnies and Easter eggs around the party area. An Easter basket filled with flowers and dyed eggs makes a nice centerpiece for the table. Dyed eggs can also be used as "place cards." If you write the child's name in white crayon on the hard-boiled egg before dyeing it, the name will remain white when the egg is dyed.
A personalized Bunny Bag to hold party goodies or collect Easter eggs can be made from a small paper sack. Cut bunny ears from the open end of a small white, flattened bakery sack (or colorful lunch bag.) Staple the top of each ear together. Draw a simple bunny face on the bag and then unfold. Glue a cotton ball bunny tail on the back of each bag and fill with treats or small gifts. The bunny bag can also be used to collect goodies found during an Easter egg hunt.
More craft projects for Easter are fun and easy invitations, give plastic eggs to each potential party guest with the party information written on a slip of paper tucked inside. You can also have an Easter egg hunt with hints to find the next egg inside the plastic eggs.
