Craft Projects

"Traveling Scrapbook"

Make-it, take-it--traveling scrapbook. These are wonderful craft projects that can be taken on the road. If you like to collect things on vacation or field trips, this is a craft for you. A ticket stub from an amusement park. A foreign coin. A small pink shell. This project will help you keep souvenirs safe until you get home--and to display them once you do! You can reuse one scrapbook or make a new one for each trip.

Supplies You Will Need:

Four or more sandwich-sized, resealable plastic bags

Construction paper cut to fit inside each bag (your choice of colors)

Hole punch

Two pieces of cardboard, slightly larger than the bags, for the covers

Yarn (your choice of colors)

Directions:

1. Put a construction-paper square inside each bag

2. Stack the bags. Punch two holes through the bottom of each bag and the paper inside it, about 1/2 inch from the bottom edge

3. Punch holes in the cardboard covers to line up with the holes in the bags

4. Place the sandwich-bag pages between the pieces of cardboard. Tie them together with the yarn

5. Store your souvenirs in the sandwich-bag pages

6. When you return from your trip, decorate the front cover of your scrapbook with pictures, maps, or a collage

Tip: Leave your children with evidence that you watched, paid attention, and loved them enough to tell stories of their lives. Scrapbooking is such a wonderful way to do that!!!!
