Crafts for the Elderly

Craft headquarters for the elderly. Crafts for the elderly that are fun, easy and inexpensive. Great gift ideas and fun projects. They can make these crafts for themselves or give as gifts to those they love.

"Fancy Wreaths"

Supplies:

12" styrofoam wreath form (you can get this at any arts and crafts store)
1-yard of material, a variety of colors makes the wreath cheery (my mom had scrap material that she had saved through the years, this works great)
Pair of zig-zag or scallop scissors
Philips screwdriver (a skewer will do)

Directions:

1. Cut the material into 6" squares using the zig-zag or scallop scissors
2. Using the screwdriver, fold 1-piece of material over the screwdriver with the printed side toward the screwdriver
3. Poke material into the styrofoam wreath starting from the inside edge and working around the wreath (do not put material on the back of the wreath)
4. Poke the material about every inch, depending on how full you like your wreath--mom liked them full
5. Fluff up the material and there you have it!

HINT: You can make a wreath for each holiday and change them out for decoration, or you can give as a great gift! To keep clean and free from dust, store in wreath bags (you can get these at Target or Wal-Mart; if you wait until after the holidays you can find them on clearance--I got mine for under $5.00)

"Homemade Cookie Wreath"

Surprise friends or family with a homemade cookie wreath. All you have to do is arrange cut-out cookies in a heart shape before baking, making sure the sides overlap. Bake as usual, when cool, tie a festive ribbon to the top of the heart. ENJOY!!
