We love it when our child gives us a dandelion they picked or they find a rock they think is beautiful or a seashell from the shore. We love to see the look on their face when they give it to us and they love to see us beam with joy. Let's take that "beautiful gift" from their heart and put it up for all to see. All you need to do is buy small magnets (at Wal-Mart or any hardware store) and glue (I use a hot glue gun) the "gift" to the magnet. There you have it--wonderful refrigerator decor. We will enjoy it as much as our child!"Love Notes"We all love to receive "love notes." Whether it's in the mail, a post-it on the fridge, or a sweet saying in our lunch. A wonderful easy craft idea to brighten up any day is "love notes." A wonderful "heartfelt" way to tell someone we love them, whether it's our husband, wife or children, is to tell them in a "love note." Just write a simple saying on a piece of construction paper (I like to cut out a 2 x 3 piece with scallop sissors) and write a "happy thought." Trust me, it will bring joy to their day. My daughter, being the sentimental person she is, has every one I ever put in her lunch as a child. By the way, she is now 28!! It is a great way to say, "I love you", "Have a fantastic day", "You brighten up my life", "Happy sunshine thoughts," "Thanks for being you!", "Smile." The list goes on and on. Just pour out your heart and have fun!!"Special Memory Box"Start off the new year with a fun family tradition--hide "special" memories from previous year in a time capsule. A wine box makes a great capsule. Just roll up drawings, photos, handwriting samples or letters that have special meaning and pack them in the box. Any memoribilia from the year. Then store it in a dry place. Mark your calender for the reveal date 12 months later--you and your children will be amazed at the difference a year makes!
"Coupon Books"Coupon books are easy craft ideas and make wonderful gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays or any special occasion. Just cut construction paper into 3x5 inch pieces. Using a hole punch, punch a hole on the top left-hand corner of each piece of paper. Using colorful markers, make up a coupon for each piece of paper. For example, one coupon could say that you'll help with a special chore around the house, like cleaning up the yard. Another could be for a cup of coffee or an ice cream at a favorite store. When all the coupons are made, use a piece of yarn to tie them all together. With a gift like this, the giving will go on for several days. And you'll have lots of opportunities to spend special time with the person. Tip: A creative way to let our child wrap their own gift is to let them decorate a paper sack with stencils or rubber stamps. Put their "homemade gift" inside, then fold over the top, punch 2 holes with a hole-punch and slide a peppermint stick through the holes. A "sweet" gift bag!!
