Egg Carton Crafts

"Caterpillar's"



Set loose your child's wild imagination with these creative egg carton crafts. Make caterpillar's, ladybug's, spider's or a bouquet of flowers that can be given to mom on Mother's Day. Wonderful craft idea for preschoolers. Teacher's, just have students bring empty egg cartons to class and let the fun begin!


Supplies You Need:

Egg carton (cardboard egg cartons work the best)
Scissors
Markers or tempura paint
Pipe cleaners or fuzzy wire (found at Michael's craft store or any arts and crafts store)
Pom poms or googly eyes
Hole punch
Elmer's glue

Directions:

1. Cut out each cup from the egg carton
2. Put 2 holes with the hole punch on each side of the egg section
3. Take the pipe cleaner or fuzzy wire and work through 4 of the egg sections
4. Wrap a loop at both ends
5. Paint each egg section
6. Add the pom poms for the eyes (or googly eyes) with a dab of Elmer's glue



"Bouquet of Flowers"

Supplies You Need:

Egg Carton (cardboard works the best)
Green pipe cleaners
Pom pom (for the pistil)
Markers or tempura paint
Elmer's glue
Sissors


Directions:

1. Cut out egg cups from egg carton
2. Poke pipe cleaner through bottom of egg cup (for stem)
3. Paint the egg carton flower
4. Put a pom pom in the middle of the flower with a dab of glue
5. Make a full bouquet and wrap in tissue paper for a gift or display in a small vase



More egg carton crafts---ladybugs, spiders and a BAT!!

"Ladybug"

Supplies You Need:

Egg Carton (cardboard works the best)
Markers or tempera paint
Hole punch
Black pipe cleaners
Googly eyes
Glue

Directions:

1. Separate one cup from the egg carton
2. Using the markers or tempura paint, paint 3/4 of the egg carton cup red
3. Paint the remaining part black for the head
4. Using the black paint, paint spots on the body
5. Use the hole punch to make 6 holes (3 on each side) at the base of the cup for the legs
6. Make 2 holes (for the antennae) where the top of the head will be
7. Insert a black pipe cleaner into each side hole and out the other side for the legs
8. Use half of a black pipe cleaner for the antennae, put through one hole and out the other
9. Glue on the googly eyes

"Spider"

Supplies You Need:

Egg Carton (cardboard works the best)
Hole punch
Colorful pipe cleaners
Black tempura paint
Googly eyes


Directions:

1. Separate one cup from the egg carton
2. Using the hole punch, make 8 holes (4 on each side) at the base of the cup
3. Insert pipe cleaner through hole on one side and out the other side for a leg, repeat with 4 different colors of pipe cleaners (4 legs on each side)
4. Glue on the googly eyes

"Bat"

Supplies You Need:

Egg carton (cardboard works the best)
Glue
Googly eyes
Black tempura paint (optional)
Rubberband


Directions:

1. Separate 3 cups from the egg carton
2. Cut out part of the bottoms of the 2 outside cups to resemble bat wings
3. Glue each wing to either side of the head (the cut part facing the same direction of the face)
4. Paint
5. Add the googly eyes
6. Attach the rubberband to the top of the head for hanging

Kids will have hours of fun making and playing with these "egg carton crafts." Teacher's, a wonderful way to decorate the classroom!!
