Fourth of July Crafts
"Party Pinwheels"
The 4th of July will be fun and festive around your house. Fourth of July crafts that are simple to make, starting with these party pinwheels. Easy enough for children, and festive enough for adults.
Supplies You Need:
Scissors
Red, white, and blue patterned paper (wrapping paper works great, or have kids decorate a piece of red, white or blue construction paper with crayons)
Stapler
Hole punch
String or ribbon
Directions:
1. Cut the paper into squares, big and small sizes
2. Take one square and start by making a 1-inch fold at one end, then fold the square accordion-style, working from one end toward the other
3. Fold the entire square, then fold the pleated strip in half crosswise and staple the inner edges together
4. Holding the inner corners, pull the pleats out to make a fan shape
5. Make two half-circle fans and staple them together on the edges (you can make smaller pinwheels and staple in the center of the larger pinwheel)
6. Punch a hole at the top of the pinwheel and loop the string or ribbon through and knot
7. Hang up around the house or on the patio for party decorations
