Santa's little helpers can help make these gingerbread cookies by measuring the ingredients, rolling the dough into balls, and decorating them. This recipe is easy and fast!

This cozy combination of cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and molasses will make your whole house smell good!!

When done, serve these scrumptious treats with hot chocolate or some eggnog--yummy!!

Ingredients You Need:

2-1/3 cups flour

1-1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. ground ginger

1/2 tsp. ground cloves

1/2 tsp. salt

2 tsp. baking soda

3/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1/3 cup molasses

Cinnamon sugar: 1/2 cups sugar mixed with 1-1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets

2. Combines flour, spices, salt, and baking soda in a bowl

3. In a large bowl, beat butter with sugar and egg at medium speed for 2 minutes, until fluffy

4. Add molasses; beat 1 minute, then slowly add flour mixture; beat to combine

5. Using a rounded teaspoon for each cookie, roll dough into balls, then roll each in cinnamon sugar and place on baking sheets

6. Bake 10 minutes, or until cookies are golden brown and crisp. Cool 1 minute, then transfer to wire racks to finish cooling

For Gingerbread Men

Roll out dough and use gingerbread cookie cutters to cut out. Place on baking sheets and bake (same as above). When cool, have kids decorate with icing, edible beads, red hot candies, and sprinkles.
