Homemade Crafts

Being creative is much easier when we are organized. Homemade crafts can be put together fast and easy when everything is in its place. Here are some great ideas for getting organized.

Tip #1 Forget the frustration of tangled ribbon. Stack spools onto a paper-towel holder for easy access, and save leftover pieces of ribbon (that no longer have a spool) on empty paper-towel rolls, using a piece of tape to keep each wrapped tight.

Stash the rolls in a handy box, so you know where to find them next year or whenever a wrappng project arises.

Here is a great tip not to forget: After the annual gift wrapping marathon, the last thing you want to think about is next year's session. But January is the best time to stock up on supplies, as prices can drop by 75 percent!!

Tip #2 A hanging toiletry bag makes a perfect trimmings tool kit, since the clear compartments mean your equipment stays accessible and visible and it can hang out (or get tucked away) when not in use. Arm your arsenal with a hole punch, pen, glue stick, double-sided tape, scissors, tags, gift-topping embellishments, and a few pretty premade bows.

Tip #3 Corral rolls of wrap in a clean trash bin that you can stow in a closet yet easily tote to your gift wrap station when needed. So papers don't unravel and rip, slip thin rubber bands (the thick ones can grab and rumple paper) around tubes. Also, have some nonseasonal wraps in solid colors or simple patterns to get you through more than one holiday.
