Leprechaun crafts kids will love to help you make!!
Ingredients You Need:

3 boxes (16 oz. each) pound cake mix

1 cup mini M&M's

1 package prepared sugar-cookie dough

2/3 cup flour

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon light corn syrup

Green, orange, yellow, brown and pink food coloring

2-16 oz. containers white frosting, melted and divided

3 pieces shoestring black licorice

1 green Starburst candy

1-14 oz. bag orange or white candy melts, melted

1 Airhead taffy candy

2 large chocolate chips

1 vanilla-wafer cookie

1-16 oz. container chocolate frosting

Chocolate gold-coin candies

Directions for leprechaun crafts cake:

1. Bake Cakes: Heat oven to 350 degrees. In 3 batches, prepare pound cake mix according to package directions, adding 1/3 cup mini M&M's to each batch. Pour 2 batches into greased 2-1/2 qt. ovenproof glass bowl; place bowl on sheet pan. Bake 1 hour 30 minutes, or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Trim cake to level; set aside. Divide remaining batch evenly between greased 5-cup ovenproof glass bowl and greased 8-1/2" x 4-1/2" loaf pan; bake 30 minutes, or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let cakes cool completely. Trim cakes to level. Place small-bowl cake flat side down on cutting board; trim and discard two 3/4" slices from opposites sides of cake. Using 3-7/16" round cutter as a guide, cut 2 rounds from loaf cake.

2. Prepare Cookies: In bowl, combine cookie dough and flour; roll out to 1/4" thickness. Cut 5-1/2" circle from dough; place on baking sheet. Using 2" clover-shaped cutter, cut cookies from remaining dough, rerolling scraps as needed; arrange cookies on separate baking sheet and bake for 8 minutes and circle cookies for 10 minutes, or until done. Let cool. In bowl, combine sugar, corn syrup and 2 tablespoons water; add enough green food coloring to 1/2 of the glaze to create desired color. Decorate clover cookies with white and green sugar glaze as desired.

3. Create Hat: In bowl, combine 1 container vanilla frosting and enough green food coloring to create desired color. Spread bottom of cake round #1 (from loaf cake) with frosting; place frosted side down in center of 5-1/2" cookie to form hat. Place hat on rack set in jelly-roll pan. Pour green frosting over hat to coat. Let sit for 10 minutes, or until set. In bowl, combine 2 tablespoons vanilla frosting with yellow food coloring to create desired color. Attach 2 licorice pieces to base of hat; pipe on gold buckle using yellow frosting. Unwrap green starburst and microwave 10 seconds at a time until pliable; shape into clover and attach to hat buckle.

4. Decorate Face: In bowl, combine candy melts and enough orange food coloring to create desired color; pour into lined loaf pan. Let sit 10 minutes, or until firm but not hard. Using citrus zester, shave to create hair; set aside. In bowl, combine all but 2 tablespoons remaining vanilla frosting with brown and pink food coloring to create desired beige color. Place small-bowl cake largest flat side facing out, on rack set in jelly-roll pan. Spread bottom of cake round #2 (from loaf cake) with beige frosting; attach to bottom of small-bowl cake to form head. Pour beige frosting over cakes to coat. Let sit 5 minutes or until set. On work surface, roll out white candy (microwaving if needed) and cut 2 almond-shapes for eyes. Using remaining white frosting, attach chocolate chips, point side in, to almond-shaped cutouts and dot on pupils; place on face. Attach cookie to form nose. Cut remaining licorice piece and attach to form mouth. Cover sides of face and head with orange hair.

5. Assemble Leprechaun: Place 2-1/2 qt. cake flat side up on platter. Coat cake with chocolate frosting to form pot; use small spatula to create lined design. Assemble cake by placing head in center of pot and topping with hat. Surround head with gold chocolate coins; arrange clover cookies around base of cake.
